This light-weight 'katan' saree, originating in Benaras, is hand-woven using pure silk threads. The fabric is fine, soft and glossy. A quietly elegant beige-coloured 'katan' silk saree, it features Madhubani artwork. This is done using a variety of instruments such as fingers, twigs, paint brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks. The saree features sriking patterns comprising lines, dots and cursive waves in black, mustard green and brick red on the saree's loose end or 'pallu'. Delicate flower motifs, in the same earthy colour combination, are placed across the body of the saree. An imposing 3-inch-wide border in black, shaped like waves, frames the entire garment. The saree is most suited for casual and semi-formal daytime events. The blouse and petticoat worn by the model are not included. However, a running blouse piece is.
